Valentine's Day Flowers

It's that time of year again. Don't panic, but Valentine's Day is a mere 11 days away. That's less than two weeks folks...

So, wondering what to bestow upon the love of your life this year? Sure you could go with jewelry or a big pink teddy bear. Or you could go classic - with flowers. I love to receive flowers all year long, but there's something special about getting flowers on Valentine's Day. Think about it - it's the middle of the winter (at least here in New England) so there's nothing blooming outside. I think of Valentine's Day flowers as a little reminder that spring isn't too far off.

So, what kind of flowers do women really like? For Valentine's Day, roses are the old standby. Particularly red roses. And don't get me wrong, I love roses. I carried a bouquet of all roses on my wedding day. And I love the classic simplicity of a dozen (or two, or three) red roses. After all red is the color of love. But there's so much more available and you'd be surprised to learn that the majority of women don't particularly love red roses. What about a mixed spring arrangement with lilac and hydrangea and tulips? Or you could go the tropical route with anthurium and orchids. Or maybe she's more of a pink or peach rose girl. Women expect to receive red roses...so why not surprise her with something different this year?

Oh, and when given the option, opt to have a designer arrange those flowers for her. Sure she may love to arrange flowers herself, but I'm sure she wouldn't object to not having to do it on this day...
