So, just out of curiosity, I googled the phrase "most popular Valentine's Day gifts" and guess what comes up? Yup, flowers.... Nice to see that such a classic gift is still one of the most popular.

Just thought I'd share.

Oh, ps, less than 72 hours until the big day. But don't worry...there's still time to order flowers!!! Just give us a call.

Valentine's Roses...

Valentine's Day and roses go hand in hand. We all know that red roses mean love...but do you know what the other colors mean? I found this information on about.com:

•Red means romantic love (the "Valentine roses," par excellence).

•Purple, coral and orange challenge red as the color for Valentine roses. The rose color meanings for these 3 are as follows:

•The specific purpose of purple roses is to signify that the giver has fallen in love with the recipient at first sight.

•Meanwhile, coral signals desire.

•And orange roses, along with apricot, connote enthusiasm.

•The meaning of yellow roses is joy and friendship.

•We express our gratitude and appreciation with pink roses....

•While feelings of admiration and sympathy find words with roses that are light pink in color.

•Peach is more ambiguous, as it can signify either sympathy or gratitude.

•Their purity naturally enough lends to white roses the meaning of reverence and humility.

Valentine's Day Flowers

It's that time of year again. Don't panic, but Valentine's Day is a mere 11 days away. That's less than two weeks folks...

So, wondering what to bestow upon the love of your life this year? Sure you could go with jewelry or a big pink teddy bear. Or you could go classic - with flowers. I love to receive flowers all year long, but there's something special about getting flowers on Valentine's Day. Think about it - it's the middle of the winter (at least here in New England) so there's nothing blooming outside. I think of Valentine's Day flowers as a little reminder that spring isn't too far off.

So, what kind of flowers do women really like? For Valentine's Day, roses are the old standby. Particularly red roses. And don't get me wrong, I love roses. I carried a bouquet of all roses on my wedding day. And I love the classic simplicity of a dozen (or two, or three) red roses. After all red is the color of love. But there's so much more available and you'd be surprised to learn that the majority of women don't particularly love red roses. What about a mixed spring arrangement with lilac and hydrangea and tulips? Or you could go the tropical route with anthurium and orchids. Or maybe she's more of a pink or peach rose girl. Women expect to receive red roses...so why not surprise her with something different this year?

Oh, and when given the option, opt to have a designer arrange those flowers for her. Sure she may love to arrange flowers herself, but I'm sure she wouldn't object to not having to do it on this day...
